Always a great experience at Primi Piatti. We had the pleasure of having the owner George take care of us for dinner this time. We started with the mussels in wine sauce. They were perfectly prepared and delicious. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to try this time as everything I’ve had in the past has been so good. Based on the Sauvignon Blanc I was drinking, George recommended the Chicken Francese. That pairing did not disappoint. The dish was packed with flavor, light and the portion size was spot on. My wife had the Chicken Parmigiana which never disappoints. Always quality food here. We ended with the Tiramisu for desert. It was great too. Shocker.. This place is one of the rare establishments in Jax that makes you feel like family every time you stop by. It checks every box for an Italian restaurant. Thanks again for the hospitality, George! God bless
this place is one of my favorites in the neighborhood! the food is always fresh and everything always tastes perfect! my absolute favorite is the tortellini rosato… the sauce is so good- i’ve tried to duplicate it but its proven impossible. they also serve house made bread that’s to die for. the restaurant itself is adorable and quaint with a great ambiance. plus, the owner george is usually working and always so nice and hospitable. definitely check this place out, you won’t be sorry
This is now my favorite restaurant! I ate the most wonderful dish with mussels, salmon and shrimp over pasta! This is a family owned business. The server was courteous and attentive. I loved the ambience of this small restaurant with perfect lighting, music and nicely set tables.
Came in for dinner during a week night around evening time, there were lots of seating available. Dim lighting - romantic atmosphere, good service. I had the chicken francese, it was great!! Strong in flavor! The gnocchi were soft, it was all right - I’d prefer the sauce creamier. The bread was lovely but the olive oil with balsamic vinegar missed on a stronger olive oil. The staff was welcoming and helpful.
After dinner at a nearby restaurant, we stopped here on a whim just for dessert, and ate outside since it was a nice evening. My husband ordered chocolate mousse cake, and I got tiramisu. Both were *excellent*. And both had the tiniest smidge of sauces on the plate that were so good, we asked about them, and were told it was a kiwi sauce and a raspberry sauce. So then we ordered a piece of ricotta cheesecake to share, and requested that it be *doused* in those sauces. And that was amazing too. The man working was super friendly, and actually ended up giving us the cheesecake for free!
I'm obsessed and will definitely be back! Incredible food. Owner went above and beyond. Service was fantastic. Ambience was cozy and made me think of "home". Thank you George for your incredible restaurant and food!
If zero stars was an option... Firstly, the server greeted us with attitude and an unkind aura. There was no "hi, how are you?" she said "are you here to eat?" very rudely. Once sat, I ordered a sparking wine. Sparking wines are supposed to bubble from the bottom up. It was completely flat and gross tasting. We ordered their fried Mozzarella as an appetizer. We noticed a hair in between the glass table and our table cloth. Decided to ignore it as it wasn't physically on the table. There were only 2 tables in the entire restaurant. It took 20 minutes for the appetizer to come out. The appetizer didn't look appetizing but we decided to go for it anyways. After I cut into the fried mozzarella, we found 2 pieces of hair on our plate. Which belonged to neither my partner nor myself. I walked up to the server to whisper quietly "we found a hair in our food, we would like to go ahead and pay for our drinks and leave." the server was not concerned, apologetic, nothing. Then, tried charging us for the fried mozzarella. I told her I was not paying for that and she says "are you not going to eat it?" We were really excited to try this place as we were celebrating my partner's promotion. The manager even walked past me, smiled and asked if everything was okay. We still had to pay $30 for our two drinks. We will not be returning and encouraging others to avoid this place.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars for the service and food! Wow, what an experience. George, the owner was amazing ! So friendly and funny ! Nikki our server was great and really knew the menu well ! The bread was great and fresh. We had calamari for an appetizer which was amazing perfectly breaded, and the dipping sauce was so delicious. We had lasagna, pasta puttanesca, and veal parmesan! It was all warm, delish and flavorful ! George talked with us like we were family and hung out with us. There was no one in the restaurant while we were there and we had a fabulous time with them ! I can't wait to go back ! He brought us 2 complementary wine bottles as my boyfriend does not drink alcohol so he brought over a bottle of zero alcohol wine as well! So thoughtful! The restaurant vibe is very early 2000s but to be honest it's also just mom and pop Italian and that's what we all want anyways, like hanging out in your grandmas kitchen
